Equipartition of energy in wave motion
نویسنده
چکیده
Of concern are solutions of the classical wave equation in three-dimensions. It is shown that if a solution has compact support then after a finite time the kinetic energy of the wave is constant and equals the potential energy. The proof employs the Paley-Wiener theorem of Fourier analysis. Prepared under Research Grant DA AROD 31-124-G68O Army Research Office, Durham, North Carolina.

Experimental Evaluation of IRWEC1, a Novel Offshore Wave Energy Converter
This paper describes the innovative offshore point-absorber wave energy converter (WEC), IRWEC1, under development by the Hydrodynamics, Acoustics and Marine propulsion Group at Babol Noshirvani University of Technology. Totally enclosed in an outer shell, with no external moving parts, IRWEC1 is completely sealed which make it a robust and trustable system. Important motion for this WEC is the...
متن کاملEquipartition of energy for the wave equation associated to the Dunkl-Cherednik Laplacian
This paper is concerned with energy properties of the wave equation associated to the Dunkl-Cherednik Laplacian. We establish the conservation of the total energy, the strict equipartition of energy under suitable assumptions and the asymptotic equipartition in the general case. متن کاملEquipartition of Energy in Geometric Scattering Theory
In this note, we use an elementary argument to show that the existence and unitarity of radiation fields implies asymptotic partition of energy for the corresponding wave equation. This argument establishes the equipartition of energy for the wave equation on scattering manifolds, asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds, asymptotically complex hyperbolic manifolds, and the Schwarzschild spacetime. ...
متن کاملExperimental Study of the Performance of Floating Breakwaters with Heave Motion
Nowadays, the application of floating breakwaters in small or recreational harbors has found more popularity. These types of breakwaters are more flexible in terms of design, configuration and especially installation compared with fixed breakwaters. In the current study, the performance of floating breakwater (FBs) under regular waves was studied using the physical modeling method. For the mode...
متن کاملSimulation of static sinusoidal wave in deep water environment with complex boundary conditions using proposed SPH method
The study of wave and its propagation on the water surface is among significant phenomena in designing quay, marine and water structures. Therefore, in order to design structures which are exposed to direct wave forces, it is necessary to study and simulate water surface height and the wave forces on the structures body in different boundary conditions. In this study, the propagation of static ...
